Authentic Pilanesberg Camping Safari & Canopy Tour Not to Be Missed!

Join us on this spectacular 3-day adventure tour that combines a truly authentic wildlife safari experience in the Pilanesberg National Park and finishes off with an exhilarating canopy tour experience in the Magaliesberg mountains.

The first 2 days of the tour dedicated to safari time-South African Style!! We head off to the Pilanesberg National park which is situated about 2 hours from Johannesburg. It is here that you will get to experience the abundance of wildlife in the Pilanesberg. You will be taken into the park with our ranger for 2 days for a jam-packed safari experience.

What makes the Pilanesberg so special?

The Pilanesberg is the ultimate destination to break away and is rated as one of the best wildlife parks in South Africa. There is always an abundance of wildlife to be seen at every turn. Unlike the other game reserves in South Africa, the Pilanesberg is unique as it basically an extinct volcano that formed a ring complex of mountains which is good for us. Why is that? Well the animals get to roam freely within the reserve and are contained within the mountains. So it is pretty easy for our rangers to find the animals even though the park is 55,000 hectares of sheer awesomeness.

About the canopy tour

The last day of the tour will see you swooshing through the air on THE BEST Canopy tour experience in South Africa. The 3-hour tour is situated in the Magaliesberg Biosphere which is home to one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth. Our guides will take you on a magical journey through the ecology and geology of the area as you zip from cliff to cliff.

This is the best form of aerial tracking where 11 platforms have been built into the cliff face of the Gorge and have been joined together with a long steel cable that you slide along. Basically, the tour is all about zipping from platform to platform and spending time on each to admire the view and learn about the geology, fauna and flora.

The accommodation for the tour?

To get a feel for how local South Africans experience a safari in the Pilanebserg, we have opted for the camping style of accommodation. So that means we have traded in the creature comforts of a hotel for a tented experience. Which of course has its benefits…. A roaring fire in the evening, a traditional South African meal as prepared by our very own bush cook and the sounds of nature amplified by the acoustics of your tent. We can assure you it is a really cool way to experience the magic of the Pilanesberg.

Not the most glamourise of names we know. The drive takes just over 2 hours. Upon arrival we douse you in coffee, throw you in the rest room to take care of any humanly functions and then pile you into the game vehicle for your first wildlife experience of the day. Today we set aside about 6 hours of game viewing. You should be back at camp by about 4pm. Lunch will be served on the drive at about 12:30pm.
