Join us on the best full day Elephant Walk and ATV Nature ride tour
Experience the thrill of walking with free roaming elephants as well as a guided ATV tour in a private game reserve.
About the tour
We have combined two of our most popular tours into one action packed day tour that combines nature, walking with elephants, wild animals and the thrill of riding on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The tour starts off with a 1 hour walk in the bush with 3 free roaming elephants. The experience is led by 2 highly qualified elephant rangers who will teach you about the many characteristics and behavior traits of these majestic and gentle giants of Africa.
The walk is totally safe and involves a walk in the bush. Distance covered is usually about 2km depending on the mood of the elephants. They are basically the tour lades on this day tour. And here the elephants go…we go. And yes the tour is totally ethical. The tour is an interactive walking experience. And by walking we do not mean that that you will be on the back of the elephants walking. You will be walking with them in their natural environment. There is no riding or making them do tricks for food.
The second part of this incredible day tour from Johannesburg involves a 1.5 hour guided ATV tour through a private game reserve. This is an incredible non-commercialized experience as you get up close and personal to the various wildlife from giraffe, warthog, zebra and a variety of antelope and bird species. This activity is totally safe and follows a strict ‘low impact’ policy in terms on the natural environment. So no tearing through the bush at hectic speed!!! It is a relaxed and chilled out experience. And of course, we finish of the day tour with a scrumptious lunch with an ie cold beer.
What is an ATV?
An ATV is an acronym for All Terrain Vehicle. In some countries like South Africa, they are known as quad bikes. Basically they are 4 wheeler ‘bikes’ that can go pretty much anywhere as they have full 4×4 functionality. These ATV’s are prefect for a different type of game viewing experience. And they are fun!!!
Never driven an ATV before?
If you have never ridden an ATV or Quad bike before – No need to worry, our experienced, friendly and safety conscious guides will assist you with familiarizing yourself with the bikes. Or if you still feel you are not up to it….we put you on the back with one of the guides. With us Safety comes First!
About the guided ATV tour
We have incorporated a 1.5 guided tour of a private game reserve into this full day experience. You will be accompanied by a ranger for the duration of the ride. You will obviously be riding the ATV yourself. No previous experience is needed as the bikes have automatic transmission. They are super easy to use. You just have to know where the accelerator and brakes are. And it is compulsory to wear a helmet. All in all, a very safe experience. The route we take is through a private game reserve that is home to a variety of wild animals roam giraffe, zebra, antelope and warthog. You will not encounter any dangerous animals like lion or rhino on the route.
Where do we ride?
The guided ATV tour is done in a 650 hectare private game reserve situated in the world famous ‘Cradle of humankind’ area. The reserve offers some incredible views of the Magaliesberg mountains and unspoiled plains that South Africa is famous for.
