Cape Town Winelands tour for wine lovers
Cape Town Winelands tour that you will not forget! Did someone mention wine? Of course we did. Welcome to Cape Town, home of some of the best vineyards and wine in the world. It would be sacrilege if you were not to spend some time exploring the world famous Winelands, tasting the many variations of wine and enjoy the scrumptious vineyard food.
Join us on a full day Cape Town Winelands tour that covers some of the most iconic wine producing areas from Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl.
Which wine areas do we visit on this Cape Town Winelands tour?
First up is Stellenbosch, the city of Oaks. We will spend some time meandering through the quaint streets of this iconic Winelands Town. Such a beautiful town with its massive oak tree lined streets, side walk cafes, art galleries and immaculately preserved Cape Dutch architechture. You will definitely get a feel for the Dutch colonial history here.
The entire town is surrounded by the vineyards of the Cape Winelands and the mountainous nature reserves known as the Jonkershoek and Simonsberg. Stellenbosch is situated about 50km from Cape Town. This part of the day tour gives our guests an opportunity to experience a wide range of cultivars including the famous Spier wine farm where you will get your first opportunity to taste some of the local wines.
After a Stellenbosch, we take a scenic 30km drive over the Helshoogte Pass in into the stunningly beautiful town known as Franschoek. This is one of the oldest towns in the Cape Winelands area dating back to the 17th century when the first French Huguenots arrived. There presence is easily distinguishable by the architecture, exquisite selection of food and of course, the substance that France is most famous for…..wine. In fact, Franschoek has been given the title of the Gourmet Capital of Cape Town. We will enjoy another wine tasting here followed by a typical culinary experience, Franschoek style. Lunch at your own account.
The last leg of our Cape Town Winelands tour will see us traveling 35km to the town of Paarl, one of Cape Towns first wining areas. In fact, the first ever commercial wine cellar known as KWV is housed here. The scenery here is also pretty remarkable and stunning. The town is nestled below some spectacular granite domes from where it got its name. Paarl in Afrikaans means Pearl in English. We will enjoy yet another wine tasting tour here before hearing back to Cape Town by early evening.
