Stress reduction:

On a scale of one to ten, South Africans rate their stress level on an average at 7, which means most of us experience at moderate to high stress levels on a day-to-day basis. Life is fast-paced and full of things that demand attention. Hiking and camping offers a wonderful escape from that reality.  It is amazing how just a weekend away can seem like a week in the Magaliesberg mountains. Getting some fresh air and sunshine and hiking with family and friends is a great way to feel recharged and refreshed. 78 % of all campers agree that camping is a great way to escape the stress of everyday life and almost half of all campers say that camping has a “great deal of impact” on reducing stress and allowing them to spend more time with their families.

About the experience?

We have set up a camping facility at the Plumori Private Game reserve in the Magaliesberg. A mere 75 minute drive from Johannesburg. Guests will meet us there on a Saturday morning at 8:30am. Our fiest hike for the weekend will be up onto the top of the range. The hike is about 6 hours long covering about 12km. The rest of the afternoon is all yours to chill and explore the area around the campsite. The evenings are spent around the campfire. And no need to stress about the food or cooking. We have that covered. After breakfast on Sunday, we embark on another guided hike. This time we explore the lower slopes of the mountain. Distance is about 10km over 5 hours.

What makes this Magaliesberg hiking and camping experience so great??

You do not have to do anything. Just bring your hiking boots, family and friends. We set up camp, provide the food and do all the cooking. And of course we do all the guiding. The hiking and camping is set within the Plumori Private Game reserve. It is home to an abundance of wild animals. For this reason, the hike will be guided by the local ranger. You will not only hike with him, but learn a lot about the animals, survival skills and tracking. You will be sure to see your favorite wild animal from  zebra, impala, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog and a lot more.
