Full Day Hiking from Johannesburg Tour
Are you looking for a day tour from Johannesburg that involves fresh air, exercise and nature?
Well we have an awesome plan to resolve that. Each Full Day Hiking from Johannesburg tour journey may start with that 1 step but our hiking journey may involve a tad more steps than that. In fact they involve so many steps that our guides have to buy new shoes every time.
How we roll on our hiking day tours from Johannesburg
You bring your legs and we provide a passionate guide, an incredible and unspoilt hiking trail, a delicious picnic lunch and an infectious sense of adventure. And all of this within 45 minutes of Johannesburg!!! Enjoy a complimentary pick up from your hotel and chill out as we drive you through the suburbs of Johannesburg towards the start of the Magaliesberg Mountains. We take you on an incredible hike through the mountains where not only will we describe all the unique and indigenous plant life to you but also keep a sharp eye out for Kudu, impala and zonkies.
We also spend some time at the historic sites along the path which include an old cave used as a hospital in the Boer War, Dolomite mines and a tree school. The usual route we take covers 11km with an attitude gain of about 400m. The hiking time average out at about 5 hours with a lunch break at the ‘Chalk Oven’. And you are gonna love the lunch!! We try and catch a snake to cook for you. But fear not…..we usually scare the snakes away with our heavy breathing so we will conjure up mixture of fruit, smoked chicken, cheeses, crackers and traditional biltong.
The Full Day Hiking Tour from Johannesburg concludes with an epic pulley system cable car to get across the river. Nothing scary but just adds a little adventure to the hike.
And yes we have hiking routes to suite all levels of fitness ranging from 5km to 11km. The standard route covers 11km.
What happens if you want to bail out due to fatigue or an alien invasion? Stress not. There are various ‘escape’ routes along the way that we can take you down. Having said that…our guides tend to be a bit sadistic and love to see our clients suffer. I mean we like to see them challenge themselves to become better people and walk away with a better perspective on themselves and life in general.
When do we hike?
Our tours depart every day. And yes…Even if it rains. We have rain ponchos. The rain can add a really magical feel to the place.
