Pilanesberg Safari Packages
Best Pilanesberg Safari Packages
Are you looking for an authentic safari experience in the Pilanesberg? The Pilanesberg is the most popular tourist destination from Johannesburg and has established itself as one of the best wildlife viewing attractions in South Africa. Our safari follows the trail of majestic elephants or giants herds of wildebeest, zebra and giraffe while the lions lounge in the shade under an acacia tree waiting for their next tasty meal to trot on by.
In the distance loom the mountainous silhouettes of the crater rim formed by an extinct volcano eruption within which the Pilanesberg now exists. This is the prefect safari due to its proximity to the city of Johannesburg, the abundance of wildlife and range of accommodations options. And all of this situated within a malaria free zone.

What is the best time to visit the Pilanebserg for a safari?
The Pilanesberg is good the whole year through. Given that the animals are contained within the natural borders of the extinct volcano rim they are not subject to normal migratory patterns of animals in the larger parks. The only factors to consider would be the seasons. In the summer months, the days are longer and have a lot more rain. In winter the days are shorter, a tad colder and dry. But having said that, these conditions don’t effect the animal sightings.
What are the tour options available?
We have various safari packages available depending on your various factors from time available, your budget and level of comfort. Check out the options below:
1 day Pilanesberg Safari
This is an incredible tour option for travellers who are limited for time. The safari basically starts at 6am and we return back to Johannesburg by 6pm. The travel time to the Pilanesberg and back is about 5 hours. So that means we have 7 hours in the National Park to view the free roaming wild animals.
The safari is conducted in one of our game viewing vehicles with one of our FGASA rangers( Field Guide Association of South Africa). This is the best way to experience the Pilanebserg as our rangers will be able to explain the various facts about the fauna and flora seen. They also have a greater understanding of the area in terms of the most likely place to find the animals.
2 day camping safari package
This incredible camping safari is an epic way of experiencing the Pilanebserg-But only if you are willing to trade in your creature comforts for a more basic existence. We pick up our clients from Johannesburg at 6 am on day 1 and return again in day 2 at 5pm. After we arrive in the Pilanebserg we spend up to 15 hours on game drives over the 2 days in search the Big 5 (lion, elephant, African Buffalo, rhino and leopard) as well as other animal species that are found in the Pilanebserg.
These range from zebra, wildebeest, impala, giraffe, warthog, Kudu, Springbok, cheetah and more. The best thing about this Pilanebserg safari package has to be the evening time. Yes we have our very own bushveld cook who will conjure up a scrumptious meal-South African Style of course. We like to keep the tours authentic so you can experience how we as South Africans would cook. And to top it off….the food is prepared on a fire which later turns into an 8 foot inferno that is conducive to a good glass of wine or ice cold beer old chap.
