The Accommodations
Your stay at the Black Rhino Game Lodge includes accommodation in the Standard Rooms, which can be configured with a double bed or two single beds based on your preferences. Each room is equipped with individual air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with shower, satellite TV, direct-dial telephones, electric shaving points, a coffee machine, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs, and electronic safes for your valuables.
The Game Drives
Our highly experienced rangers, certified by the Field Guide Association of South Africa, will lead you on three 3-hour game drives in open-air vehicles. The best times for spotting wildlife are early morning and late afternoon/evening, ensuring you have the best chance to see the Pilanesberg’s diverse fauna.
During these game drives, you’ll explore the rich biodiversity of Pilanesberg, home to the Big 5—lion, leopard, African buffalo, rhino, and elephant—as well as over 360 bird species and many other animals. Keep an eye out for zebra, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, crocodile, and the majestic Fish Eagle as you traverse this stunning landscape.

Travel Itinerary
Day 1 -
ravel day. Our luxury Pilanesberg safari leaves from Johannesburg at 06H00. Your host for the duration of the tour will meet you at your hotel. We then take the 2.5 hour drive through to the Pilanebserg with a stop for refreshments along the way at a traditional ‘boer’ restaurant where you can get a taste of the local coffee.
We aim to be at the Pilanebserg National Park by 9am. After a quick stretch of the legs, we will embark on the first game drive of the tour. The drive will take us into the heart of the Pilanesberg where you will get the chance to see a lot of the wildlife that live in the reserve.
The game drive concludes at about 12:30pm. We then enjoy a scrumptious buffet lunch before we check into the Black Rhino Game Lodge. We should have you settled in your room by 2pm. The next game drive is scheduled form 4:30pm until 7:30pm. So you have the afternoon to relax by the pool or enjoy the lodges many lounges and terraces.
Day 2 -
We have an early game drive scheduled. The best time to view the animals of the Pilanesberg is in the early morning. Wake up call is at 5:30am-ready to go at 6:30am. We will travel to the western part of the Pilanesberg to take discover the different terrain and landscape formation s while we search for the leopards, lions, African Buffalo and rhinos that frequent this part of the reserve.
We should be back at the Lodge by 9:30am where you will get to enjoy a scrumptious buffet breakfast on the terrace that overlooks the Pilanesberg. Check out is at 11am. We will then take the 2.5 hour drive back to Johannesburg with a stop enroute at the Hartebeespoort Dam. We should have you back in your hotel by 3pm.
